What becomes possible when we “walk a mile” in our own shoes?
Take some time to craft a story of self-empathy by making your own unique pair of slippers.
Wouldn’t it be great to put more of your time and energy into understanding yourself?
How about taking the megaphone away from your "inner critic” who is quick to jump on the loudhailer when things aren’t going great?
If you’re anything like me, you find it waaaaay easier to show empathy towards others’ mistakes. You’d never say the kinds of things to someone else, that you say to yourself!
So in this workshop we’re flipping the saying “walk a mile in someone’s shoes”, on it’s head. Instead, we’re going to take some time to welcome a part of ourselves we've found hard to accept and love.
Using our understanding of these shadow parts, we’ll craft our very own unique pair of slippers so we can literally embrace ourselves with a snug foot hug of acceptance!
I’m delighted to be teaming up with Veronica (aka the Monkey Lady), for this very special workshop.
Take a breather,
Connect with yourself,
Craft something you can literally wear around every day!
In this beautiful half day workshop we’ll:
Jump straight into measuring and making our slipper templates followed by laying the wool to make our “slipper pancakes”.
We’ll pause amidst the busyness to gently journey into reflection and connection with those messy parts of ourselves.
After a couple of busy hours we’ll connect over a lovely Veronica made lunch.
Demonstrating and guiding you through every step of the felting process we work towards your slippers being completed. Your soles will be ready to sew on once the felt has dried.
We’ll pause for Veronica’s incredible afternoon tea, to give us one last burst of energy for the final stages.
What to know:
Beginners are most welcome.
Some physical activity is required.
Slippers will be made from 100% wool tops and leather soles (vegan? Get in touch to discuss the ethics and what might work for you).
We’ll have a range of colours to choose from (let us know if you have something specific in mind)
The total cost (all inclusive) is $180*
Are you in?
You’d pay $100+ on Etsy to buy a pair of felt slippers… but imagine instead you get to:
learn the art of wet felting
take home your VERY OWN pair of felt slippers.
have a luscious lunch
delight in a delicious arvo tea
soak up the loveliness of other like-hearted folks.
and leave feeling a little bit lighter and hopefully a lot more loving towards yourself!
And we’re keeping it under $200 for you.
We keep the group size small (max 10)
Remember….
When we take a moment to “walk a mile in our own shoes” we create new possibilities for self-empathy and renewed energy!
Questions?
*Do you have any discounts available?
We’re so glad you asked. YES! We’d like to offer 1-2 reducedcost tickets so folks without the means can still benefit. Please get in touch if you’re in this situation and we’ll shoot a ticket your way. This is a genuine offer so please don’t be shy! You deserve self-care just as much as anyone else.
Is this one of those intense navel gazing type things?
I do love creating spaces where folks can reflect, connect and get real about life. Your afternoon includes time for self-reflection and connection with like-hearted folks. However, there is NEVER an expectation that anyone will share beyond what they are comfortable with. And if you’re needing quiet solitude there’s plenty of room for that too. Crafting is such a gorgeous opportunity to just slow down, sit for a bit and share what’s on your mind. So that’s the vibe we create through Self-Care Saturdays.
Urgh! Toxic positivity? No thanks!
I’ve got a huge radar for toxic positivity which comes in the form of “here’s the answer to your deepest struggles” or “just say this mantra daily and you’ll suddenly feel great”. There’s a lot of folks out there offering some form of quick fix to the complex journey of being ourselves in this big world. I’m not one of them! So expect encouragement and support to journey gently within to gift yourself a few moments of connection without any spoken or unspoken pressure to “be” anything other than just how you are.
Just a friendly reminder - we’ve only got a few spaces available… so you best get to it if you want a spot.
